Meet Chris Munro, founder of Combined Building Services
Chris started his career in the building industry as an apprentice carpenter and joiner. He was fortunate to work on and build a diverse range of properties from residential homes to commercial and industrial buildings. This broad experience was a great launching pad into his building career.
Chris continued his academic pursuits and completed an Advanced Certificate in Building Supervision and a Certificate III in Construction Waterproofing. He still undertakes continued professional development and has a genuine interest in new product developments and how they can improve the building process.
Chris progressed into the remedial building and waterproofing sector in the mid 90’s and found that his analytical approach and diverse building knowledge was a strong base for diagnosing complex building defects and developing treatment methodologies. He actually really enjoys finding the problems in buildings and taking them away.
Combined Building Services (CBS) is a combination of like minded individuals providing a combination of building services to our clients. Chris grew up in a family business, helping after school and on weekends, and it was a natural progression to start a family business with a team of people that are like family. We do work and play together. We all care for our clients and the business. It’s how business should be.
Chris and his wife Laura have three children who still give him the rock star treatment when he gets home each day. It is still the best part of his day, even with his love of solving building problems. The family goes camping at every opportunity and are trying to see as much of the country together while dad is still the rock star.

About Rhys
Rhys has 10 years experience in the construction industry completing certificate 4 in building and construction and certificate 3 in carpentry and waterproofing. Rhys has experience in tier 2 construction and mid tier remedial building as a site supervisor overseeing works to ensure all aspects meet standards and clients expectations.
Rhys has a solid understanding of building material and building detail, and is always engaged in finding practical and effective solutions.
About Matt
Matt has a background in joinery and shop fitting, creating and installing all sorts of work and leisure spaces from kitchens and stair cases to bars and shop fronts.
He has been in the remedial building arena for over five years, managing and running multiple sites and maintaining his knowledge and experience of the latest waterproofing technologies.
He prides himself on being a terrific communicator with both clients and staff alike.
About Rowena
Rowena has experience both here and abroad – ranging from event and project management/ to marketing and office start-up of new businesses, systems and processes. Her management experience includes many projects from conception to completion, working with a number of Australia’s leading industries – most recently that of statewide ATM installation, removal and swap works including new branch construction and refurbishment. This has meant working closely with a number of Australia’s leading banks, meeting tight time frames and ensuring customer satisfaction is upheld to a high standard.
Rowena was involved in the office management of UK Start up business.
Project Management on Rail projects.
She was the Senior PM and Team Leader on high profile ATM projects.
She has the ability to troubleshoot and think positively.
She is able to give a detailed evaluation of client’s needs and an ability to deliver a tailored solution.
She also has project experience in Heritage Building Works including council application and approval; all safe work practise on sites with asbestos; and public facility upgrades and platform resurfacing.
About Shadi
Shadi has completed a Bachelor of Construction Management with a Major in Building Surveying. He has five years of construction experience which has comprised tiling, stone masonry, and residential construction, before turning his focus to the remedial sector of the construction industry.
His role at Combined Building Services involves the examination of building defects and development of rectification solutions, and execution of those rectification works as a Project Manager, Estimator, Project Supervisor and Technical and Quality Specialist.

He has a strong focus on the compliance, regulations, qualities and standards of building works.

He enjoys keeping up to date with modern building systems and processes.

He is continually developing his technical knowledge and understanding of the characteristics, capabilities and limitations of waterproofing technologies.

He has a sporting background, being a state and national representative in athletics.

Roof Repair and Maintenance
We conduct repairs and maintenance on flat membrane roofs, metal, tile and slate roofs. We can also assist with roof replacement.
Strata Property Repair & Maintenance
We have a proven record working on Strata properties. We understand the requirements of working in an occupied property, minimising the impact on occupants.
Remedial Building & Waterproofing
We specialise in diagnosing and resolving building defects in residential and commercial properties including schools, nursing homes and government buildings.
Structural Building Repairs
We provide structural building services including spalling concrete repair, structural steel repair, fabrication and installation, retaining walls, swimming pools and facade restoration.
